Why the Church Won’t Die | Matt Gordon | Acts
This week Matt kicks off our journey through the book of Acts, the origin story of the early Church and a blueprint for living with spiritual momentum.
Using a soccer illustration, Matt contrasts two unhealthy ways we can “do church” (pressure to perform, or drifting into complacency), then points to the better picture: the Holy Spirit safeguarding the mission and passing it on, generation to generation, church to church.

Is Your Faith Stuck in Neutral? | Matt Gordon | Acts
This week Matt returns to Acts 1 to unpack the foundation of the Church, not as a club or a performance, but as a Spirit-powered people on mission.
Matt frames it like “the birds and the bees” talk, awkward but essential. Because if we never clearly define what the Church is for, we drift into endless debates about preferences while skipping the core: Jesus gave a mission (make witnesses), a message (the gospel), and a means (the Holy Spirit).

In this message:
* Why Acts 1–2 is the mold we return to when church gets confusing
* “Mission, message, means”, and why prayer is the first move, not meetings
* The “now and not yet”, closing the gap between the cross and the throne
* “Upper room” church vs “boardroom” church (what really fuels spiritual movement)
Scripture focus: Acts 1:1–14 (with additional references)

The Spirit Makes Us One | Matt Gordon | Acts
This week Matt connects Genesis 11 (Babel) to Acts 2 (Pentecost) to show what God has been doing all along, not just saving individuals, but forming a unified people across real differences.
Matt walks through the moment the Holy Spirit comes in Acts 2, why the “tongues” here are actual languages, and how Peter’s first sermon opens the doors wide, “all, sons and daughters, young and old, servants, everyone.” The result is a Church that is both diverse and truly united, not by human effort, but by the Spirit.

* 3,000 added in a day, the movement begins
Scripture focus: Genesis 11:1–9, Acts 2:1–41 (with additional references)

Jesus Creates Community | Matt Gordon | Acts
This week Matt stays in Acts 2:42–47 to show what the Church looks like when it is genuinely alive, not built on preferences or personalities, but formed by Jesus and fueled by the Holy Spirit.
Matt walks through the early Church’s basic “devotions” (teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, prayer), the awe and transformation God produces, and the kind of unity the world can’t manufacture, a people becoming a family, with joy, generosity, and a shared hope that changes how they live.

Why Your Faith Feels Stuck | Matt Gordon
This week Matt launched a new series, Learning to Move Again, with a direct question: what if the reason we feel stuck isn’t that God won’t move, but that we’re out of position?
From a trampoline fail to a Texas Roadhouse story, Matt shows how momentum often follows movement, and why “waiting on God” can turn into spiritual no man’s land.

Key ideas:
Surge vs set-to-launch vs set-to-languish vs slippage
Spiritual momentum is often on the other side of obedience and positioning
The simple pattern: anticipate, act, react
“Green light” faith, ready to move when God opens the door

When “Waiting on God” Becomes Avoidance | Matt Gordon
This week Matt continues our Learning to Move Again series by pushing on a hard question: are you “waiting on God,” or are you quietly hiding behind spiritual language?
Using Scripture (Psalm 46, Psalm 37, Moses’ objections, and the spies in Numbers), Matt shows how fear shrinks our self-perception, inflates the opposition, and erases our memory of God’s faithfulness, and how stillness is meant to recenter us for movement, not replace it.

Key ideas:
*Stillness passages are for recentering, not retreating
*Fear drives avoidance, then grows through avoidance
*Moses’ five objections as a mirror for our own hesitation
*Self-perception shrinks, opposition inflates, faithfulness gets forgotten
*Practical steps: name the fear, name it accurately, choose better stories, practice courage

If God Left, Would You Notice? (Stop Coasting, Start Investing) | Matt Gordon | Acts
In this message, Matt starts with Bach’s work ethic and a big question: are you investing your life, or burying it? Using Matthew 25 (the parable of the talents), he contrasts fear-driven “break-even living” with faithful risk and stewardship.
From there, Matt connects spiritual systems across Scripture, Exodus 18 (Jethro coaching Moses on delegation and sustainable leadership), Acts 2 (the early church’s rhythms), and Daniel 6 (discipline as a daily custom). Then he brings a cautionary tale from Samson, a gifted man whose lack of discipline and community led to drift, including one of the saddest lines in Judges: “he did not know the Lord had left him.”
Matt closes with simple next steps: add one discipline, build one protecting system, and share it with someone for accountability.

Key ideas:
*Bach’s fuel: vocation as calling, excellence as obedience, “to God alone be the glory.”
*Matthew 25: fear buries what God entrusts, faith invests and multiplies.
*“Learning to Move Again” = repeatable spiritual systems, not motivation spikes.
*Exodus 18: plurality, delegation, discipleship, scalable leadership prevents burnout.
*Acts 2 rhythms: teaching, meals, communion, prayer, generosity, shared life.
*Daniel 6: discipline as “custom” that holds when pressure rises.
*Rule of life: rules that give life, not manipulation or optics.
*Samson: gifted but isolated and undisciplined, chaos follows.
*The warning line: drifting is most dangerous when you don’t notice it.

If Prayer Is Optional, You’re Already Asleep | Matt Gordon | Acts
What happens when we “rest” in a season we’re supposed to be alert? This week Matt contrasts Saul’s decline with Elijah’s prayerful life to show why inquiring of the Lord is not optional for a moving faith. He also gives practical prayer frameworks (Lord’s Prayer, ACTS, circles) and models a simple way to pray Scripture through the Psalms.

Why Paul Welcomed Death | Matt Gordon
What if your worst day and your best day pointed to the same thing? In this message from Philippians 1:12-26, Matt Gordon unpacks how Paul, chained in a Roman prison and facing possible execution, kept choosing joy. Not because his circumstances were good, but because his eyes were locked on something bigger.
You'll hear:
*Why Paul measured his life by "wasted vs. valuable" instead of "good vs. bad"
*How a Christian becomes essentially uncancelable
*Six honest thoughts on death, grief, and the hope that outlasts it
*Why "to live is Christ, to die is gain" is the most freeing sentence ever written
If you've been white-knuckling your circumstances, this one is for you.

How to Find Joy in Christ | Matt Gordon
What does real joy look like when life feels heavy, divided, or uncertain?
In this message, Matt Gordon opens the book of Philippians and shows how lasting joy is found in Christ. Paul writes from prison, yet his letter is full of peace, confidence, love, and hope. This message explores how Christ becomes our identity, our example, our goal, and our strength, and how that reshapes the way we live together as the church.
If you have ever felt hurried, burdened, discouraged, or disconnected, Philippians offers a better way. Joy is not found in pretending life is easy. Joy is found in being rooted in Jesus and learning to love, serve, and endure together.
